1932 Bugatti Type 55 Super Sport Roadster

Bugatti Type 55 is easily prevailed among the various classes of racing cars in the mid 20's. Twentieth century. Developed and released a model with engines of various sizes, Ettore Bugatti's not lost. This model has been involved in many competitions, and steadfastly kept its leading position.

Buoyed by his sporting achievements, Ettore decided to release a more comfortable car for everyday use. The road version of the Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport with a supercharged 2.3 Liter engine, had a broader, long frame and was designed for four passengers. This project was a success and brought practical benefits to the developer. From 1927 to 1932. 160 copies have been sold very expensive cars from Bugatti.

However, progress does not stand still, and the 1930 Bugatti Type 35 car has not met all the requirements for a racing car. Bugatti, focusing on the engine Miller, developed a new model of Type 51, which after a successful demonstration at the Paris Motor Show, has gone to win awards at racetracks around the world. At the end of 1931 created a new line of the road version of the model - Type 55 Super Sport.

Despite the fact that the developers have gone the same way as the first time, the result was more than excellent. Jeanne Bugatti, son of the founder, persuaded his father to take a stronger frame than the previous model Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport. Rama was similar to those used on other models Bugatti (shestnadtsatitsilindrovoy Type 45/47 and Type 54 Grand Prix). Specifically for this model was designed by Jean-body roadster, which even today is considered one of the most beautiful car bodies.

However, cars of this model was released just 38 pieces. They were designed for a very, very wealthy buyers. Supercar capacity of 145 horsepower and weighing 800kg easily accelerated to 180 km per hour. Currently, there are many wealthy car owners who do not refuse to have a Type 55 in my collection and are willing to pay him seven figures.
